hall. this started with a domestic violence incident. >> reporter: it did. that was almost a year ago. that was new year's. we are approaching 2013 this has been a long time coming now a decision could be made today, should be made today, this afternoon at 2:00. members of the san francisco board of supervisors have been going over findings of the ethics commission since september. the commission found sheriff mirkarimi guilty of official misconduct that was after he pleaded guilty to one count of false imprisonment, other charges were dropped after the fight with his wife. at the time, lopez let a neighbor videotape a bruise on her arm but has said she stands by her husband and his suspension is a political witch hadn't. mayor lee asked mirkarimi to resign in the -- resign he refused so the mayor did suspend him and that brings us to today. here's now today's hearing is

going to work. the ethics commission will give an overview. the mayor and the sheriff will each have 20 minutes to make a presentation mayor gets a rebuttal. finally public comment which could be unlimited supervisors have the option of cutting it off after 30 minutes. mirkarimi has supporters. yesterday, we saw his detractors and anti-domestic violence group, held a rally calling for the sheriff to be removed from office. to make that happen, nine of the 11 supervisors would have to vote to remove him from office. supervisors have said they've not made a decision, despite this being a high profile case and all of the media and rallies and everything else, they say they are not talking to each other and they have not made up their minds. katie marzullo, abc7 news. 28 days until election day. president obama is waking up in san francisco this morning

after raking in at least four million dollars from supporters in one day here in the bay. last night 25 donors paid $40,000 each for a chance to hold a roundtable chat with the president. then donors paying $20,000 each dined with the president. the president capped the night with a spirited rally for 6,000 inside the auditorium some who paid as little as $100. >> the president: we are not going back. we are moving forward, that's why you're here, that's why i'm here, that's why i'm running for a second term as president of the united states! the race appears to be tightening at this point. mitt romney gained popularity and votes following the debate wednesday. a poll of registered voters shows romney has reached his highest personal popularity of the campaign his favorability rate something 47% compared to 51%. president obama's rating 55% see him as favorable compared to 44% unfavorable. new pew poll shows mitt romney leading president obama among likely voters romney with 49% compared to 45% for the president, romney's biggest gains are from women voters. the race is adding more pressure to the vice presidential debate. watch it live here on abc7, thursday starting at 6 p.m.. former president clinton will be in the region today he's scheduled to appear at a

campaign event at uc davis where he will endorse four northern california candidates for congress including incumbent mcinnerney. santa cruz police looking for attempted kidnapping suspect they released a sketch of the man they hope you can help identify him. he drove up next to an 11-year-old boy on walnut street 4:00 yesterday and asked if he wanted a ride. the man repeatedly ordered the boy into the vehicle, but the boy refused ran to a nearby home and called 911. the suspect is described as white, 40 to 50-years-old, weighing about 200 pounds. gas prices leveled off overnight but remain at record high prices in california. this morning $4.67 for regular, in san francisco, up a fraction of a cent to $4.74. drivers in oakland and san jose, $4.67. governor brown approved using
